Police: Man Smoked Meth Before Stabbing and Sexually Assaulting Girl
(ABC 6 NEWS) -- Police in Rochester are releasing new details in the stabbing of a 12-year-old girl. Investigators say the man responsible is the boyfriend of the girl's mother.
31-year-old Dillon Caudill is beind bars with charges expected Thursday. Investigators say he admits smoking meth before going to the apartment around 2:30 Tuesday morning. Authorities say he went into the 12-year-old's bedroom and sexually assaulted her. She screamed and her mother came in. During a scuffle, authorities say the girl was stabbed in the chest with a pair of scissors, and the mother was suffocated. The mother didn't need to be hospitalized. The girl was taken to Saint Marys in critical condition. She has since been upgraded to stable.
Caudill took off from the scene with a knife. Investigators feared he was going to kill himself. A police dog tracked Caudill to his apartment. Authorities surrounded it for seven hours, but Caudill was not found inside. He was arrested around 4:30 Tuesday afternoon after being spotted walking in Southeast Rochester by a police officer.
