Minnesota Unemployment Numbers Show State is Recovering

(ABC 6 News) -- A new jobs report shows minnesota lost two thousand jobs last month -- and economists say the state's recovery is not yet complete.

Unemployment in Minnesota is holding pretty steady. It ticked up by a tenth of a point last month to 5.9 percent still well below the national average at 8.1 percent.

According to the Department of Employment and Economic Development, overall the state has added more than 24,000 jobs in the past year.

New U.S. Census figures showed no decline in median household income. Median income last year was $57,000, roughly the same as in 2010. The poverty rate remains flat at about12 percent.

Economist says the slight up tick in unemployment numbers shows that more people are looking for work.
