Breaking Ground on New Animal Adoption Center
(ABC 6 News)- After 36-years in the community, Paws and Claws in Rochester is finally getting a place of their own.
Members broke ground Thursday morning at their new location on 19th Street NW. The land was donated by a private source. Construction for the building will cost around $2 million.
Board members say this new location solves an ongoing issue with space. They've seen a slow increase in services over the past few years. In 2011, the group matched 700 families with pets. Through this new facility their hoping to find homes for more animals in the community.
