Rochester Man Charged With Murder in Fatal January Shooting Pleads Not Guilty

A 25-year-old Rochester man charged with second-degree murder in connection with the shooting of a 17-year-old last month has pleaded not guilty.

A jury trial for Alexander William Weiss is scheduled to begin on July 9 in Olmsted County Court.

Rochester police said Weiss claimed he shot and killed 17-year-old Muhammad Rahim in self-defense after a minor car crash at the corner of 31st Avenue and East River Road, on the city's northeast side in January.

According to the criminal complaint, Weiss shot Rahim once in the chest with a Glock 19, for which he had a permit to carry, as the incident escalated.
