Icy Roads Possible Overnight in Twin Cities

February 09, 2018 06:30 AM

Beware of icy spots on the roads overnight Thursday and into Friday morning.

That's the word from KSTP's Jonathan Yuhas, who said cold temperatures could prevent road chemicals from working well.

Yuhas called for light snow in the Twin Cities through 3 a.m. Friday - amounts expected to be less than an inch and mainly in suburbs south of the Minnesota River in Scott and Dakota Counties.

Areas further south though could see 2 to 4 inches, including cities like Worthington, Jackson, Fairmont, Blue Earth, Albert Lea, Austin, Owatonna and Rochester.

It's likely to stay cold Friday, even if it is expected to be sunny. Yuhas called for a high of around 10 degrees with a low dropping as far as -5 by Saturday morning.

But highs in the low 20s are expected Sunday.
