Waite Park Shoplifting Suspects who Led Police on Interstate Chase in Custody

A 23-year-old male driver and 22-year-old female passenger are in custody after leading police on an Interstate 94 chase Wednesday evening.

According to the Waite Park Police Department, the driver - Tyree Denton Becham of Brooklyn Center - and the passenger - Mahogany Essence Loggins of St. Cloud - were booked into the Stearns County Jail.

Police were notified at about 5:15 p.m. two shoplifting suspects had fled a Waite Park Kohl's department store with merchandise. Kohl's staff members were able to read the suspect vehicle's license plate. Authorities ran the plate and learned the vehicle was connected to another robbery in St. Paul.

Authorities pursued the vehicle, which reached speeds of 100 mph, along Highway 15 and Interstate 94.

Once stopped, Becham fled the scene on foot and was soon apprehended by authorities. Becham and Loggins were taken into custody.

Three children - ages 5, 2 and 3 months - were in the vehicle at the time of the chase. The children were not hurt and were released to family members, according to police.

Becham is facing felony charges of theft, fleeing in a motor vehicle, child endangerment and a gross misdemeanor charge for a protection order violation and for prior robbery charges. Loggins faces felony theft charges.
