(ABC 6 News) -- Minnesota gubernatorial candidate Jeff Johnson underwent emergency surgery on his stomach Monday.
Johnson's campaign office says he went to urgent care with abdominal pain early in the morning. After an initial consultation, doctors determined Johnson would need surgery. He was then brought to Maple Grave Hospital, where doctors found a small perforation on Johnson's stomach.
His campaign says the perforation was repaired, and Johnson is now out of surgery. He's currently resting at the hospital with his family.
Johnson is the Republican-endorsed candidate to take on Gov. Mark Dayton in the November's election. He faces three challengers in the Republican primary August 12.
