(ABC 6 News) – A Rochester man faces multiple charges after a concerned citizen reported him running down the street with a handgun.

Witnesses tell police that around 8:30 Thursday night, a man was running near 6th Avenue SE and 14th Street SE with a gun in hand. A witness took down the license plate of the car that  the man got into and reported it to police. Officers located the vehicle and followed it for a short while before turning their lights on.

Police say the driver sped off, but the pursuit was cut short because of the volume of traffic downtown. Police say the car later parked at the 1600 block of 4th Street SE, where police arrested driver David Dorenzo, age 19.  While searching the car, the officer located a handgun in the glove box that was not registered under Dorenzo’s name.

Dorenzo faces a list of charges including fleeing police, possession of stolen property, and driving after revocation.  He did not give police a statement as to why he was running around with the gun.
