(ABC 6 News) --  It was a record number at the Med City Marathon for kids in Rochester today.

Kindergarterners through 8th graders were grouped according to their grades and had their own starting times. The run started at the south side of the Zumbro River behind the Mayo Civic Center. They run their last 1.2 miles. Some parents run along side their kids while others cheered them on the sidelines.

The runners had to do the rest of the 25 miles prior to race day today.

Everybody received a medal at the finish line which was handed to the kids by Vikings Cornerback and Rochester native Marcus Sherrell.

Around noon, babies also participated in the Diaper Dash and kids 3 years to 5 years old had a chance to race in the Toddler Trot.
