ABC 6 News, the Hubbard Broadcasting ABC affiliate in Rochester/Austin, Minnesota, has an immediate opening for an Anchor/Reporter.  This is not an entry-level position.

At ABC6 News, you're not going to tell viewers about the latest fashions or introducing them to the pet of the day.  Instead, we believe television news has the power to motivate and inspire.  That's why you'll be giving people the answers to tough questions, delivering investigative pieces and taking viewers to places they can't go themselves.  You need to be confident and smart enough to own your newscast and we expect you to develop your own questions for newsmakers.  You'll also be expected to pitch and turn stories, including long form reports.  We need leaders who can work hard, not egos that need to be managed.

  • Bachelor Degree in journalism or equivalent field.
  • Exceptional communication skills, oral and written.
  • Experience in commercial TV news.
  • Professional, consistent on-air appearance.
  • Quick and effective decision making,live ad-libbing and maintaining performance under extreme pressure.
  • Highly developed public speaking and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read TelePrompTer
  • Must be able to accomodate shift changes and extended hours.
  • To be considered, applicants must have a valid driver's license and clean record for use of station vehicles.
  • To be considered, applicants must submit a demo reel or a link to their work.
  • A passion for local programming and a solid understanding of the Midwest are highly desirable.


  • Assist in selecting stories for broadcast, researching, writing and gathering newscast content.
  • Present live on TV both unscripted and scripted news reports.
  • Maintain extensive community contacts and awareness of local and national current events.
  • Write for station's website, Facebook and Twitter pages.
  • Make monthly promotional community appearances.
  • Maintain appropriate and strict standards regarding wardrobe, hair, cosmetics and grooming.
  • Provide newsroom leadership and contribute to overall team efforts.

Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job which includes lifting up to 50 lbs. (camera equipment), sit or stand for extended periods of time.
