"What really makes (Sam) a special player is that he works hard," JM baseball coach Dutch Heiderscheit said. "There's never a question about what you're going to get with Sam."
For the past three years, Sam Broman has occupied first base for the Rockets.
"He's going to work hard and he's going to give you all he's got every day at practice," said Heiderscheit
Heiderscheit says Sam is a quiet kid, but when he steps on the field he lets his play speak for itself.
"That's just Sammy at the ballpark right there. He just come and does his job," Heiderscheit said.
Broman's performance made some noise last weekend in the Rockets doubleheader with Mayo.
In the two games, he was a combined 5-for-7 with 4 RBIs and 2 runs scored.
"It was important because we want to be one of the top teams in the conference and that's a big crosstown rival game to win," Broman said.
"In the middle of the order where he hits, he was just coming up big for us, both games he was just a tough out," said Heiderscheit.
Broman says it has been a process at the plate this year.
"I've been on and off," said Broman.
But as a senior veteran, he knows how to get his game back on track.
"I think just playing the simple ball. Small ball is our game. We're not really a big ball team," said Broman.
"I think he just sees the ball and he's aggressive at the plate. He's in there swinging so he's putting the ball in play and getting some hits for us," said Heiderscheit.
