(ABC 6 News) --  It's been seven years since 27-year-old April Sorensen of Rochester was murdered.

Sorensen was strangled and stabbed in her home in broad daylight, and the scene was then set on fire.

Police are still looking for clues that could lead to a suspect.  Her death is currently the only open homicide case in Rochester.

"We want to remind the community also that this case is very much open and active and very real not only for the families and friends of April, but also for the members of the Rochester Police Department," Rochester Police Captain John Sherwin said.

New technology is being used to reanalyze things that have been done in the past  Authorities still have hope, saying just one tip with the right information could solve the case.

"Over time many things change in people's lives so information that may have been known at the time that for whatever reason someone may have wished to conceal, they may have had a change in their life where they're now comfortable reporting that to us," Sherwin said.

They're asking for anyone with relevant information to contact police at 507-328-6800 or crime stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
