(ABC 6 News) - Rochester residents gave their input Thursday night on the master plan for Soldiers Memorial Field.
The open house featured different changes the park could see. One idea includes leaving the golf course as is. Another is reducing it to 9 holes or taking it out altogether. There is also talk of a possible community center or event space. The Park Board is looking for the right components for long term use.
"If you think about the future of Rochester, we got more people living downtown, you got changing demographics, older generations happening, more people want to walk and bike and be more active, so having an active place in the center of town is a key factor in that," says Michael Nigbur, Director of Parks and Forestry.
The comments collected will be presented to the city council. The Park Board is expected to adopt a final plan by June.
