(ABC 6 NEWS) -- "It worked out perfectly," Hank Friederichs said.
Friederichs speaks the truth.
A year after the Chatfield junior and his team both captured third place at the state tournament, Friederichs won the indivudal title at 138 pounds, and the Gophers took home the Class A championship.
"We just kind of built on that this year. We realized where we were. Hopefully place two places better, and we did, both individually and as a team," Friederichs said.
Friederichs gives a lot of the credit for his development to his brother Harvey, who finished second in state at 152 pounds.
"I definitely felt like I could do it. I didn't know what my weight class would look like, but they had me ranked one all season. I honestly didn't know who the toughest was in my weight class, but it all worked out. I guess I am number one," Hank Friederichs said. "It's been a life goal. And I accomplished it. It was a great relief, and I felt really good about it. Still do."
Friederichs already has next year's goal in mind.
"Another state title, for sure," Friederichs said. "And hopefully, looking forward to some college wrestling."
