(ABC 6 NEWS) -- As a sophomore, Nick Hanson dressed for varsity games.

This year, the junior is one of the Eagles five starters, and he's made his presence known early on.

"I had a good game I guess. I got hot," said junior Nick Hanson.

Last Friday, Nick poured in six threes from behind the arc in the Eagles 73-48 win over Zumbrota-Mazeppa.

"When it happens, you're just kind of in the zone. You're feeling it. You just keep shooting I guess, as long as they're going in. If I'm feeling it, I just let it rip. All of them felt good, so I wasn't questioning it," said Hanson.

He finished the game with 31 points and a new person record.

"Lifetime career high, that was it, I set it in the Z-M game," said Hanson.

"Any time he's open we'll try and find him the ball. He has a good basketball knowledge; knows what he's doing on the court. We can rely on him to make the big shot when it comes down to it," said senior Dan Sloan.

Being relied on to make the big shot is a role Nick earned in the offseason.

"The more shots you get up the more it's going to help you. That's probably been the biggest key. It helped me knock those down," said Hanson.

"You can always find him shooting in the gym. Even after practices are over he stays in the gym and keeps shooting, just trying to get better," said Sloan.

Nick is now a target on opponents' radars, which might make it harder to post 31 on a nightly basis, but he sees that as a positive for the Eagles.

"It's just going to help the team more, give other guys more open looks and have a more balance attack. It'll be good for us. As long as we win, that's what we want," Hanson said.
