The coldest air of the season has arrived. Lows on Saturday morning reached the single digits above zero making it the coldest morning since March 22nd.
Winds were a bit on the breezy side pushing wind chills into the teens below zero in many locations. A list of coldest wind chills compiled by the National Weather Service can be found here.
Unfortunately, for warm weather fans the cold air doesn’t stop. Saturday night lows are expected to reach 0º or even the single digits below 0 for the first time since March 7th.
These lows will likely be reached shortly after midnight before winds begin to shift. As high pressure moves off to our east, winds over MN/IA will become southerly giving us a brief relief from the single digits Sunday & Monday night. A cold front moves through late Monday bringing another blast of cold air. Temperatures stay below average the entire week.
