SCHEDULE: Primarily Monday-Friday unless completion of special projects warrant additional time.
STATUS: Full Time, Hourly
Requires BA in journalism, production, marketing, promotions or broadcast related degree or equivalent work experience. 2-4 years of experience working in television production and/or promotions. Proven leadership skills: prior supervisory experience preferred including directing workflow, motivating and training staff. Must be highly creative, proven ability to create and lead a project from start to finish and lead a group through the process. Graphic design experience preferred. Non-linear editing skills (Premier & Avid systems) required; knowledge of software, editing and production techniques (After Effects, Photoshop)required. Must have a valid driver’s license.
This position supervises all aspects of on-air promotions, public service announcements, station-produced commercials and event promos for KAAL-TV from conception to completion. This includes creative development, assignment to producers, delegating tasks, editing, tracking progress and ensuring completion of promos/commercials by established deadlines. Works closely and collaboratively with News, Sales, Outreach Marketing and Production departments to ensure projects are completed on time, in budget and meeting goals. Supervises the day-to-day work of the Creative Services producers, assigns tasks to complete and monitors progress. Independently creates on-air news and programming promotions by concepting, producing, shooting, writing and editing of assigned projects. Works closely with the General Manager in the development and execution of the department’s strategic plan and ensures subordinates execute plan on a daily basis.
Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job which include lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally (camera equipment), sitting or standing for extended periods of time in a confined area, ability to communicate in English both verbally and in writing, ability to hear clearly, and dexterity to manipulate computer keys and other controls in the studio as well as other equipment. Requires the ability to think critically, tactically and creatively as well as be able to articulate information in clear, concise manner to others. Must be able to think quickly and ability to work effectively in pressure situations. Also must be able to work in extreme outdoor weather conditions.
