(ABC 6 NEWS) -- "Becca plays with the heart of a lion," Albert Lea girls soccer coach Rick Barnhill said.
Or is it the heart of a Tiger?
Albert Lea junior Becca Dup is having a great season on the pitch, and she's come a long way since she started playing in fifth grade.
"A family friend's daughter played soccer, and she introduced me to it," Dup said. "We'd play for fun, and then I joined the team. I've been playing ever since."
"Her skill on the ball has gotten a lot better. She used to be just a runner into space, and get onto balls that were sent into space, but now we can play into her feet a little bit more, and she can turn and deliver," Barnhill said.
Dup scored three times in two games at the Tigers own invitational on Saturday, and she added another last night against John Marshall.
"Sometimes, I just have to do the extra things, like practicing outside of practice, to be the best I can be," Dup said.
That extra practice has paid off. Not only is Dup Albert Lea's leading scorer, but the Tigers as a team are on pace to score 20 more goals than they did last year.
"It's been living proof of what we've been doing. Her play, in concert with others, has been just absolutely fabulous," Barnhill said.
