(ABC 6 NEWS) -- Johnny Lawson finds himself in a whole new role this year, and finding the back of the net is one of his duties.
"That's kind of my job on the field - to be the offensive player," the Lourdes senior said.
"This year, we're definitely looking to him as a captain, and also as the person that's going to lead our offense," said head coach Tom Kane.
And so far, he's done his job pretty well. The Eagles have scored 15 goals in their first eight games this season. Lawson has 10 of those, with four coming last week against Lake City.
"I don't really think about it too much. I have most the goals and it's just happened that way. I've gotten lucky I feel like," said Lawson.
Lawson has scored two or more goals on three different occasions this year. He has also tallied a goal in every game the Eagles have scored in. While he calls his success luck, some might argue that it's all skill.
"His skills have to have improved just in order to be able to still keep on scoring with being marked by two guys, sometimes three," Kane said.
"It's a little bit of pressure but I don't really worry about it too much," said Lawson.
