Make Your Own Snack Station

Gearing up for school invites getting back into after-school snack routines.  Instead of opening the refrigerator looking for a snack and thinking “there’s nothing to eat in here”, Hy-Vee Dietitian, Jen Haugen, will share an easy way to create healthy snacks at home with an idea for your refrigerator that the whole family will love.

How to get started
  • Purchase an inexpensive sink tub or see through container
  • If desired, decorate the sides of the tub
  • Load it with snacks for the week

  • From the produce aisle:
    • Apples
    • Banana
    • Grapes
    • Snap Peas
    • Carrot Chips
  • From the dairy aisle:
    • String cheese
    • Yogurt
    • Cheese cubes
  • Dippers:
    • Peanut butter
    • Hummus
    • Ranch dressing
    • Salsa
    • Spreadable cheese
  • Crunchies:
    • Veggie Sticks
    • Apple Sticks
    • Beanitos Chips 
    • Trail Mix
    • Crackers (Triscuits)
  • Soft-serve:
    • Canned fruit like mandarin oranges, applesauce, pineapple
