Passport: Deer Creek Speedway

(ABC 6 NEWS) -- It's a stock car racing track with food, music, and of course some heated competition. ABC 6 News reporter Steph Crock shows us all the action.

"Your ties and gears and shocks. There a lot of different things with the motor you can do," Lucas Schott said.

Countless hours in the shop,

 "2 to 3 nights a week probably," Schott, a 16-year-old driver explained.

And many miles traveled.

"15 to 20 states around the country from New York, to California, to New Mexico, Texas, even a lot form Canada," speedway owner Randy Queensland said.

All for races like this one. At Deer Creek Speedway drivers first draw which heat they'll be in. Then it's back to the final touches.

Races are every Saturday until the end of September.
