Northern Iowa Counties Discuss Dispatch Services

HAMPTON, Iowa (AP) - Franklin County officials are talking to Cerro Gordo County officials about providing emergency dispatching services.

Talks between Franklin County and Hampton have stalled, prompting Franklin County's inquiry to its neighboring county.

The Hampton Police Department has been handling 911 calls for Franklin County.

The city and the county were working on an agreement to place a communications center in the Franklin County Law Enforcement Center, but the county Board of Supervisors rejected the plan June 24.

Cerro Gordo County Sheriff Kevin Pals says he's looking into the Franklin County proposal and figuring out what his county would have to charge for the service.
