(ABC 6 News) -- The first year was so successful, they did it again. The RideAbility Horse Ranch near Pine Island held an event Tuesday called “Operation Free Ride.” It was started by the network “Horses for Heroes”.  It's a way to give back to veterans and those currently serving in the military.

Whether you're prepared to hop on the saddle, or just sit back and enjoy a ride on the wagon, there was something for everyone Tuesday.

"We're going to go on a wagon ride that's next on the list," said veteran Richard Daly. The reason he came out with his granddaughter, is because he's a veteran and that's what this event is all about.

"We got an email through different veterans organizations that this was going on and our granddaughter is here today, so it's perfect!” said Daly.

“I feel like it’s an awful tiny thing that we're giving, but I’m just glad we have something to share," said organizer Jeanie Michelizzi.

Sporting the red, white, and blue, this crew at RideAbility was ready to greet our American heroes with lots of love. "It makes me cry. It makes me feel very patriotic. It makes me take the time to remember that we live in a wonderful country, and we love this country, and we love, love the people who gave it to us," said Michelizzi.

"I didn't know if she'd like riding horseback but she's on her second trip around and she's painted horses, so it’s been a great day," said Daly.

From horseback riding, painting, and treats, the kids had a blast and the veterans there Tuesday... “They felt honored which is what we were trying to achieve, so we were thrilled with that," said Michelizzi.
