Men Get Additional Prison Sentence in Iowa Robbery
WEST UNION, Iowa (AP) - Two men convicted of robbing a bank in northern Iowa that injured two police officers have been given additional prison sentences in the case.
Jeremiah Mumford, of New Hampton, and William Clayton, of Osage, were sentenced Wednesday in Fayette County District Court to 50 years in prison. The men must serve at least 35 years before they're eligible for parole.
Both men faced robbery and attempted murder charges in connection with the October incident in Maynard. Mumford and Clayton were accused of wounding two officers during an ensuing car chase. The men were captured several hours later.
The sentences will run concurrent with sentences of 75 years in prison in Bremer County. The men faced charges there because the chase extended into two counties.
