Open Container of Gasoline Found in Deadly Bloomington Vehicle Fire

A person died Wednesday morning in a vehicle fire in Bloomington.

Police were called to the scene about 8:15 a.m. for a vehicle fire, according to Cmdr. Mark Stehlik of the Bloomington police. The car was south of 86th Street on Old Cedar Avenue.

When authorities extinguished the flames, they found one occupant inside. Police did not say whether the occupant was a woman or a man, Stehlik said.

Police say an open container of gasoline was found inside the passenger compartment of the vehicle.

Authorities are investigating what started the fire.
