(ABC 6 NEWS) -- Cate Arendt is the only freshman on the JM/Lourdes girls lacrosse team, and when you're the only freshman on varsity, you're usually pretty good, and Cate certainly is.
"I'm the baby of the team, so they just watch over me," Arendt said.
It's only been three years since Arendt first picked up a lacrosse stick - "It was really awkward, and I didn't really know what to do" - but she's really come into her own.
"She's a smart player. She's quick. She'll step in and take the shot if she can. If there's an opening, she's not afraid to be agressive and go for it," JM/Lourdes coach Kerry McAllister said. "But at the same time, she'll also notice if it's not there. She doesn't usually try to force it in."
Arendt has 31 goals in 11 games this year, and she's helped the Rockets to a 7-4 record.
Not bad, for a freshman.
"I have three more years, and I can still get better from where I am now," Arendt said.
"The best part about Cate Arendt is that she's a freshman," McAllister said. "I have her for three more years, so I can only see her getting better."
