Twin Cities Churches Prepare for Gay Weddings

With gay marriage becoming legal in Minnesota, some Twin Cities churches will be very busy late this summer.

First Universalist Church in Minneapolis is preparing for dozens of gay couples to get married after Aug. 1.

Pastor Justin Schroederin says this is a day many have been waiting for.

Same sex couples here in Minnesota can get a marriage license starting Aug. 1.

State law requires you to wait five days to actually get married. KSTP is trying to get clarification if people can apply for the license ahead of the Aug. 1 date.

There's already one official who is available, Minneapolis Mayor RT Rybak will be at City Hall at 12:01 a.m. Aug. 6 to marry any couples looking to tie the knot
