American Red Cross Surpasses Disaster Cases from 2012
(ABC 6 News) -- It's been a very busy year for southern Minnesota's American Red Cross.
It's seen more disaster cases already this year, then it did in all of last. 100 cases in the first 100 days of 2013 compared to 97 in all of 2012.
The American Red Cross says that's what they're seeing for their case load for just southern Minnesota.
Residential fires have primarily been the reason they have been so busy. You may remember, they assisted with an apartment fire from earlier this month in Rochester.
The American Red Cross assisted with all displaced residents at the Nortgate Apartments. They also say, typically in apartment fires, there are usually several cases because each household counts for a separate case.
They say its rare, to respond to disasters the equivalent of once per day.
