Fort Dodge Man Accused of Threatening Governor Terry Branstad
_ (ABC 6 News) -- A 47-year-old man is federally charged with threatening the Governor of Iowa.
Jerry Springsteen of Fort Dodge, Iowa was arrested this week after he sent a letter threatening Governor Terry Branstad.
According to the complaint, Springsteen mailed a handwritten letter to Governor Brandstad's Office in October.
In it, "I want you dead expletive" as well as "I got a clear shot at you on Terrace Hill."
It also says, "you're a walken dead man."
Springsteen then signs the letter: "Ex FBI and Advisor to Adolph Hitler."
Court documents say Springsteen told an investigator that he wrote the letter to get Branstad's attention.
When asked about the "clear shot" comment, Springsteen told the investigator that he knew of a fire escape on a building near the governor's mansion where he could take a rifle shot at the governor.
Springsteen remains in custody.
