Four Albert Lea Businesses Fail Tobacco Compliance Checks
(ABC 6 News) -- The Albert Lea Police Department conducted checks at 29 establishements; four of them failed.
The four that failed are Dash in Grocery, HyVee Gas, Loves Truck Stop, and Tobacco Store.
Police supervised 15-16 year old decoys attempting to purchase tobacco products.
In three of those four businesses that failed, the clerk asked for ID, but only glanced at it.
For the first violation, a retail clerk is issued a citation that carries a maximum penalty of up to 90 days in jail and/or a $1,000 fine.
