Chicago Gang Threatens to Kill Minnesota Police Officer
Police sources have confirmed all 1,400 officers in Minneapolis and St. Paul have been put on "high alert."
Sources tell 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS the order came down from both Chiefs of Police after multiple informants, not connected to one another, gave similar accounts of the alleged hit on an officer in either city.
Sources say the Gangster Disciples, based in Chicago, made the threat after both departments tried arresting a Twin Cities member of the gang last week who was shot to death by St. Paul Police.
Police reports say Victor Gaddy rammed his vehicle into squad cars and that's when officers opened fire and Gaddy died at the scene.
Sources say Gaddy was a high-ranking member of the Gangster Disciples here in the Twin Cities with the street name "Gov." That name would make him the number three man in the gang for the Twin Cities according to gang hierarchy. St. Paul City Council member, Dan Bostrom, confirmed that the entire St. Paul Police Department has been put on "high alert." He was told the gang wants revenge for Gaddy's death and they have ordered a hit on any officer in either department.
Bostrom says authorities are taking the threat seriously because the informants' information was very similar and they would not have had the opportunity to make the story up. Bostrom says the Gangster Disciples have killed officers in other cities and would not be afraid to do it again.
