Workplace Shooting Prompts Change for Mpls. 911

On the day of the Accent Signage shooting, at least four 911 callers hung up before talking to an operator.

On average, Minneapolis has a wait time of 6 seconds, but during the shooting it was 26 seconds due to the influx of calls.

The city is now adding a recording callers will hear after ten seconds, telling them not to hang up.

The city has always had a policy of calling back after a hang up.  If they can't get a hold of the caller, they dispatch a squad car.

They hope this new recording will minimize hang ups.
