Noah Crooks Ruled a Youthful Offender
(ABC 6 News) -- New developments in the case of a north Iowa teenager accused of killing his mother. The defense attorney says the now 14-year-old will be tried in an adult court.
Wednesday a judge ruled that Noah Crooks will be considered as a youthful offender. That means he'll be tried like an adult, and if found guilty remain in the juvenile system until he turns 18.
After that there will be an opportunity for the courts to keep him in detention. His mother Gretchen Crooks was found dead in their rural Osage home on March 24th.
The teen faces charges of 1st degree murder and 1st degree assault with the intent to commit sexual abuse. No trial date has been set.
