A Dry September for all of Minnesota

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - It's been a dry September for much of Minnesota, with records set in some cities.

And overall, Minnesota was the driest of nine Midwestern states - because areas south and east got rain in early September from former Tropical Storm Isaac.

The Twin Cities received 0.3 of an inch of rain in September - making 2012 the second driest September on record.

The Twin Cities normally see 3.08 inches of rain in September.

St. Cloud saw 0.24 inches of rain, making it the second-driest September there as well.

Morris and Collegeville were expected to see their driest Septembers on record, with 0.03 of an inch of rain and 0.08 of an inch respectively.

Rochester only had 1.29", which is over two inches below normal.

Extreme drought conditions were expanded Tuesday across northwest and southwest Minnesota.
