Hormel Employee Charged with Identity Theft
(ABC 6 News) - A Hormel Foods worker has been accused of taknig the name of a dead person. Calzontzin Gonzales-Alonso has been charged with identity theft and forgery.
Austin police got an email from a Mayo Clinic Health Systems employee claiming Gonzalez-Alonso was using the name Franciso Nanzez Jr. for his doctors visit.
Police say the real Gonzalez-Alonso passed away in 2008, but that the name was still being used in Austin as of this year.
Authorities say the Gonzalez-Alonso admitted to using Nanzez Jr.'s name to gain employment at Hormel and that the two men were actually friends.
The identify theft and forgery charges are both felonies. No word on whether he's be fired from Hormel.
