MN Military Mom Worries About Son Stationed Near Prince Harry
A Minnesota military mom is concerned about her son's safety after an attack at a nearby base. The target wasn't a US soldier but a British one.
Laura Boyce of Coon Rapids believes the British are putting her son's, and thousands of other American lives at risk, by putting Prince Harry, a member of the British Royal Family, in the war zone.
Boyce's son, Wyatt Brunkow, serves at a base in Afghanistan. Prince Harry is based right next door.
The Taliban attacked the base where the Prince is stationed days ago. He's at Camp Bastion which is connected to Camp Leatherneck where Brunkow is based. Two US soldiers were killed.
Boyce wrote a letter to Minnesota's biggest newspaper, emailed both Senators Klobuchar and Franken, President Obama too. She's determined to make a point and perhaps, a difference.
Boyce hasn't heard back from Senator Klobuchar, Franken or the military. She points out the Brits have moved Prince Harry before for safety reasons, they should do it again.
The former British Prime Minister, John Major, argues moving Prince Harry would be a triumph for the Taliban.
While we were talking with Laura Boyce, her son emailed from Afghanistan.
Friday, he's safe. She worries for how much longer.
