Level 3 Sex Offender Living in Austin

(ABC 6 News) -- People with concerns about a level three sex offender moving into their neighborhood met in Austin Monday.

A public notification meeting was held at the library. Police and the department of corrections wanted to make people aware of 21-year-old Robert Goodew.

Goodew has a history of assault and attempted sexual contact with young boys. He was most recently in prison for not registering. Police say he'll now be under close watch, encouraging everyone to be a bit cautious.

"About any contact the he may have, and like anyone, if the community can report stuff to us that they believe is criminal. That can go a long way in helping our department out," said Captain Dave Mckichan of the Austin Police Department.

For 90 days he'll be tracked and supervised, after that he'll still face restrictions, like no contact with minors. Goodew will be living in the 700 block of 8th street northeast which is back near the quality pork plant.
