Pop Time!

Most everyone loves food on a stick, especially when it’s a frozen popsicle.  Jen Haugen, Registered Dietitian at Austin Hy-Vee will help you beat the heat with these warm weather favorites that won’t weigh you down.

Popsicles are the perfect treat to not only cool you down but to add some nutrition to your day.

Necessary Ingredients
Whether you like your iced treats more creamy or a bit icy in nature, there is a theme to fit everyone.

Strawberry-Banana-Orange Pops

All you need:
1 cup Yoplait frozen strawberry, banana, orange smoothie mix
½ cup orange juice
1/8 teaspoon honey

All you do:
Blend together all ingredients.  Pour into Zoku ice pop maker, dividing mixture among 4 ice pop pods.  Allow to freeze.

Daily nutritional values:
2% vitamin A
35% vitamin C
6% calcium
2% iron

Pop Goes the Coconut Pops

¾ cup sliced mangos
½ cup coconut milk
¼ cup Hy-Vee pineapple juice
½ cup Hy-Vee orange juice
¼ cup Hy-Vee undrained crushed pineapple
1-1/2 tablespoon honey
All you do:
Blend together all ingredients.  Pour into Zoku ice pop maker, dividing mixture among 4 ice pop pods.  Allow to freeze.

4% vitamin A
25% vitamin C
2% calcium
0% iron
