Nikky Krautbauer

(ABC 6 News) -- We have been featuring Excellent Educators since the beginning of the school year. This week is our last one for the year and we honor a wonderful music teacher from Neveln Elementary in Austin.

Ms. Nikky Krautbauer --- better known as "miss K" to the kids -- teaches music at Neveln Elementary in Austin and she makes learning so much fun.
 
"I think music itself is engaging and it makes my job easy and fun and just the topic itself is intriguing to everybody young and old," says Krautbauer.

Her students are able explore the world of music with their own creative touches.

"It's really an amazing opportunity to inspire kids with music and to allow them to create music themselves, not only to find out who they are as people but to also find their own voice," she says.

And "Ms. K" shares these young voices with the community with performances and she runs a choir group outside of work.

"We try to put our music out there for our family and friends so they can see the hard work we do here," and its obvious, seeing the happy faces, that all the hard work pays off.

"It became something that I love to do."
