One Realistic Resolution for the New Year

Hy-Vee Registered Dietitian Jen Haugen will show viewers the right way to set a resolution – by using MyPlate™!

Making MyPlate™ Work for Me

Many of us are not accustomed to dividing our plate into four sections, with a side of dairy at each meal.   Perhaps MyPlate is YourBowl or YourBag.  You may be wondering how to make MyPlate™ work for you.  What about MyCart?

Jen will provide visual aids to help viewers make MyPlate™ their own using the MyPlate™ placemat.

MyPlate™ Tips

  1. Consider the size of your plate.
  2. Review the food groups; what foods fit into each section?
  3. Know proper portion sizes for each MyPlate™ section.  You still need to measure!
  4. Focus on whole, low-fat foods:
    • fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables,
    • whole grains,
    • fresh, lean protein,
    • skim milk, cheese and nonfat yogurt.
