Betsy is the weekday news anchor at 5:00 & 6:00 on ABC 6 News in Rochester. Betsy is originally from Southeastern Minnesota, having grown up in the Winona area. She started at ABC 6 News in July of 2009.
More than three years have passed since area news anchor Rachel Wick signed off on air. Now, Wick is preparing to get back in front of the camera and say, “good morning,” as KAAL’s newest co-anchor on ABC 6 News Good Morning.
James Wilcox is an evening anchor at ABC 6 News. He’s been at the station since 2009. James grew up in Brownsdale, graduated from Hayfield High School, and received a degree in Mass Communications from St. Cloud State University. Prior to ABC 6 News, James worked at television stations in New York and Nebraska.
Laura Lee joined ABC 6 News in November 2010. Born and raised in Minneapolis Laura takes pride in the unique culture Minnesota has to offer. She loves meeting people of this region and telling their stories. Laura started as an evening reporter and now co-anchors the 6 & 10 pm newscast. Along with her anchor duties, she is a veteran reporter. Her most recent work includes her investigations into the unconstitutionality of the Minnesota Sex Offender Program, the cancer cluster plaguing children in the town of Kasson, and her mult-part series investigating hiring practices and questionable spending at Rochester Community and Technical College.
Brianna Cook's television career began at ABC 6 News in 2009. She worked as a production assistant, intern and then a reporter. She then traveled to Omaha, NE, where she spent a year working as the morning reporter for WOWT-TV.
Jeanna joined the ABC 6 News Sports team in September 2014. The Midwest native relocated to Minnesota from Sterling Heights, Michigan. Jeanna was born and raised on Detroit sports. Her parents say her first spoken sentence was “pull the goalie” during the 1992 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Sean joined the ABC 6 News Sports team in March 2015. Raised in the Midwest, Sean grew up in Waukesha, Wisconsin. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with a Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism. At UW-Whitewater, Sean was heavily involved with the on-campus television station, UWW-TV, and the Athletics Department. While at UWW-TV, Sean served as Sports Director. He also worked as a play-by-play and color commentator, reporter, producer, editor, photographer and host. Sean also won a pair of Wisconsin Broadcaster’s Association Awards.
Meteorologist Chris Kuball comes to ABC 6 News from the southern Iowa town of Chariton. He joined the Storm Tracker 6 Weather Team in December 2007 as weekend meteorologist. Chris moved to the morning team in October 2011 before becoming Chief Meteorologist in September 2012. Chris graduated with a bachelor's degree in meteorology from Iowa State University in May of 2007. During his last year of college, Chris interned at KCCI-TV in Des Moines, Iowa.
Cindy comes to KAAL with a variety of experiences. She has forecasted for 6 out of 7 continents. She has experience in forecasting for oil rigs, airplanes, lake effect snow, and severe weather. Cindy’s story began when she graduated from St. Cloud State in 2004 with her B.S. in Meteorology. Cindy’s first job was at KIMT in Mason City, Iowa. That’s where she became familiar forecasting for Southern Minnesota and North Iowa. In 2007 Cindy began work at WNEM in Saginaw, Michigan. While in Michigan she honed her skills in lake effect forecasting and the effects large bodies of water have on climates.
Ben Henry has been with KAAL since January 2015 as a General Assignment Reporter. He graduated from St. Cloud State University from the broadcasting journalism department in December 2014, and made Rochester his new home in a matter of days.
Karsen Forsman graduated from St. Cloud State University from the Mass Communications and Communication Studies department in May 2015 and almost immediately joined ABC 6 News in June of 2015 as a General Assignment Reporter.
Marissa Collins is a recent graduate from St.Cloud State University and joined the ABC 6 News team in June of 2016. She worked with her campus television station, UTVS News, where she worked as a reporter, anchor, and producer for two years.
