Karsen Forsman joined the ABC 6 News team in June of 2015. He graduated from St. Cloud State University from the Mass Communications and Communication Studies department in May 2015 and almost immediately joined ABC 6 News as a General Assignment Reporter. Karsen was promoted to co-anchor the 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts in March of 2017.
During his time at St. Cloud State Karsen was a news anchor and reporter for the award winning UTVS News. Karsen is also an Emmy Award winning journalist who took first place under the category of “Serious News” at the 2015 College Student Production Awards. He was also a reporter for the UTVS newscast that won first place in the 2015 Broadcast Education Association awards in Las Vegas.
Aside from storytelling, baseball has played a huge role in Karsen’s life. Starting out his career as a bat boy for his town baseball team, Karsen was fortunate enough to play at the Division II level for the SCSU Huskies. As a relief pitcher for the team, he had his best season as a senior with a 54-5 team overall record. You can find Karsen still making time to play for his hometown amateur baseball team in the summer months.
Karsen says without his fellow classmates at St. Cloud State and a great organization, he wouldn’t be the journalist he is today. He is grateful for the amount of people that helped him out along the way.
When Karsen is not in the newsroom or playing baseball you can find him out on the lake enjoying the weather with friends or playing pickup hockey during the winter months. He looks forward getting to know the Rochester community and surrounding areas.Tweets by KarsenForsmanTV
