Moving to SE Minnesota was no sweat for Hannah Tiede. Believe it or not, the winters are mild here compared to where she used to live in British Colombia, Canada. Hannah has dual citizenship in Canada and the U.S., but this is her first chance to work in the states.
Hannah joined ABC 6 News in October of 2017. She previously worked as a reporter/anchor at Newcap-TV in Lloydminster, Alberta. Prior to coming to Minnesota, she was a reporter/anchor/weather person at CKPG-TV in Prince George, British Columbia where the mean annual temperature is reportedly 3.7 degrees Celsius. That's 38.7 degrees Fahrenheit for those who don't use the metric system every day.
“I now understand what people mean when they use the phrase ‘Minnesota nice',” says Hannah. “Rochester is such a welcoming community and I look forward to making it my home.”
Hannah has three sisters and one brother. She loves adventures and has skydived twice... once with the Canadian Armed Forces. She's also met actor Karl Urban, who has started in moves such as "Lord of the Rings", "Star Trek" and "Thor: Ragnarok". She also loves animals, with penchant for pooches.
Hannah got into journalism because she loves storytelling and connecting with people and says she's gotten more out of her work then she could have ever imagined.
As she says, "It's not work if you love what you do."
